This notice covers the website at fyfen.co.uk. The Skerry app will have its own privacy policy when it launches.
Who runs this site
Fyfen is run by Gwendal Legrand, in Fife, Scotland. I'm the controller of the personal data described here: I decide what's collected and why. Contact: hello@fyfen.co.uk.
The short version
- No cookies, no advertising trackers, no cookie banner.
- The only personal data I get from the site is what you choose to give me: your email address if you sign up for Skerry early access, and anything you send me by email.
- You can ask me to delete your details at any time.
Skerry early access sign-up
If you enter your email on the Skerry page, I collect your email address and the date you signed up.
- Why: to send you an email when Skerry launches. Nothing else: no newsletters, no marketing for other things, and I never sell or share your address.
- Lawful basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by replying to any email from me or by emailing hello@fyfen.co.uk.
- Who handles it: the form is run by Formspree, which receives and stores the sign-ups on my behalf. Formspree stores data on Amazon Web Services in the United States, so your email address is transferred there; Formspree states that it relies on standard contractual clauses to protect this data. Formspree also forwards each sign-up to my inbox, which is run on Gmail (Google).
- How long: I keep the list until I've sent the launch email, then delete it, from Formspree and from my inbox, within 3 months. If you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it sooner, I remove you straight away.
Emails you send me
If you email hello@fyfen.co.uk, for example to ask to hear when Skerry launches, I'll use your message and address to reply and to do what you asked. My lawful basis is my legitimate interest in answering you; if you've asked to be told about Skerry's launch, that's your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
I keep correspondence for as long as needed to deal with it, and no longer than 2 years unless there's a reason to keep it (for example, an open question). If you asked to hear about Skerry's launch, I'll delete your address within 3 months of sending that email. Mail to that address is received by Cloudflare Email Routing and forwarded to an inbox run on Gmail (Google), so both handle it on my behalf.
Analytics
I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies or local storage, doesn't track you across other sites and doesn't build a profile of you. It gives me totals such as page views, the pages visited, the referring site, the browser type and country.
Lawful basis: my legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used so I can improve it.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request information to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare runs a global network, so this may happen outside the UK. For transfers from the UK, Cloudflare relies on its certification under the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, with the standard contractual clauses and the UK Addendum as a fallback.
The fonts on this site are stored on the site itself, so your browser doesn't contact a font service such as Google Fonts.
Cookies
This website doesn't set any cookies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask me to:
- give you a copy of the personal data I hold about you;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your data;
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to a use based on my legitimate interests;
- give you your data in a format you can take elsewhere.
Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, email hello@fyfen.co.uk. I'll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this notice
If I change how I handle your data, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
